we now return to our regularly scheduled programming

well that is not exactly true. our regularly scheduled programming (programing? no that seems wrong) would involve me writing about restaurants and illustrating with photos. none of that is going to happen. sorry.

what i am going to do is publicly grovel before my readers, all 2.5 of them, for abandoning them for so long. sorry readers, i have been busy! i have been out of town for 4 out of the past 5 weekends. in addition, i bought some fun new cookbooks and have been cooking a lot more (and therefore eating out less). also, work is insane and that just adds another level of exhaustedness to my life.

but enough of my excuses. since i am too tired to really think about writing any serious restaurant reviews right now, i will recommend my current other delicious food source: how to cook everything by mark bittman. i have been obsessed with mark bittman ever since i discovered his "the minimalist" column in the NY times many moons ago. but for some reason i just recently realized he wrote a book. i love his style... he breaks down recipes to the basics and focuses on good ingredients and simplicity. plus, he is a champion of the home cook (aka not the professional cook). kitchen proletariat unite!

reader survey: is anyone out there?

I'm out here. I'm sure you have more than 2.5 readers. Keep writing! I just recently found this little spot on the Internet and love it. I like getting someone else's thoughts on restaurants I've been to and want to go.

I never made the How to Cook Everything - minimalist connection. It does have everything - I noticed "bean cakes" this weekend while looking for turkey chili hints.

I'm out here too! Your posts are fantastic. Excellent insight on the area's restaurants. Keep it up!

Dude, I love that cookbook. I use mine All.The.Time. Have you tried the chicken biryani recipe yet? It's awesome. Mary even loves it although it is neither made of cheese nor extremely salty.
