thanks wikipedia

for reasons not really worth going into (read: for reasons that are too lame for me to admit here), i was trying to figure out what the name of UC's mascot is. i know it is a bearcat (i did not really know what that was) but i did not know its name. in case you were wondering, "A "Bearcat" is another name for a binturong, a sloth-like mammal from Southeast Asia."

as it turns out, the UC bearcat does not have a name. i was thinking it was bucky, but then i realized that bucky is the name of the wisconsin badgers' mascot. and then i was wondering what is the difference between a badger and a bearcat, and now you are getting too far into my brain and that is a scary place. run!

anyway, so i started looking up other mascots and it turns out wikipedia has an article dedicated to just that! i am now laughing my ass off over some of the information i have unearthed:
herky the hornet? gaylord the camel? a shetland pony? klawz da bear??? and don't even get me started on the stanford tree. how do these people hold their heads up in society? like i can talk, having graduated from a school known as "the violets"...
