areti's gyros

yesterday maggie texted me because she needed her weekly dojo gelato fix and she knew i would be up for joining her. our current favorite thing is the fior di latte gelato with amarena cherry topping. i decided i needed something other than ice cream in my stomach to soak up all the beer i would be consuming at beerfest later in the day so i also picked up a gyro from areti's. i had been craving one ever since seeing how delicious they looked a few weeks before when beth and jim got them after the chili cook off.

eat me

areti's gyros are the shit. the meat is really juicy and well seasoned (and they give you a ton of it) and the sauce is thick and flavorful, and they give you lots of onions and tomatoes. the bread is also really yummy. this is definitely in the running for best gyro in cincinnati (other possible contenders: mediterranean foods and mythos). they are huge and tasty and at $4.75 it is a great deal.

they also have a selection of really yummy looking salads and desserts, and greek specialties like moussaka, pastichio, and dolmades. i did not try anything else because i had just had gelato but everything looked really fresh and tasty. areti's has been open a few months i think and it is definitely a good addition to the food options at findlay market.

The amount of meat on those gyros is really ridiculous. But somehow I always manage to eat it all...

Sebastians makes the best gyros in town, imho - have you tried Sebastian's?

What did you think of this years beerfest? I had sooo soo much more fun at last year's than this year's unorganized oversold mess.

i have not tried sebastian's... i have heard mixed reviews about that place and it's pretty far out of my way. i'll add it to the list to try though.

re: beerfest, i totally agree. it was a complete mess. my friends saw someone throw up at 6 pm... an hour before the non-vip crowd even arrived. it was ridiculous.

My favorite gyros are at It's Greek to Me in NKY - the fries also come with greek seasoning that is awesome!

Why does your Mythos link take me to a restaurant in Florida?

weird, i don't know... that's the first link in google when you search "mythos cincinnati": http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=mythos+cincinnati&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

i guess it's wrong.

heather: thanks for the tip!

I second It's Greek to Me in Erlanger. The gyros are great and I think it's the Entertainment book that usually has BOGO coupons.
