help me readers... i need a good bloody mary

when i was in new orleans i became addicted to the bloody mary. it's not that i had never tried one before but i had never had a good one. the one i had at acme oyster was amazing and ever since i returned to cincinnati, i have been regularly craving them but have not found a good one.

my worst mistake was ordering one at the claddagh in newport about a month ago... oh my god it was so horrible i thought i was going to vomit. it tasted like cheap vodka mixed with tobasco sauce and spit. i made them give me a whole glass of extra tomato juice to try to drown out the nastiness but it was so bad i could not drink it (which really never happens with me and alcohol). i am still having nightmares over it and i haven't ordered another bloody mary anywhere since then.

obviously i need your help... where can i get a really good bloody mary in this city?

I know Nicholson's in Rookwood has a huge Bloody Mary menu. I am not sure of the quality of the drink, but there area ton of choices.

the pub rookwood has a list where you can pick what is on the little skewer for the bloody mary and the liquor used. it's pretty nifty. we've seen it on Sunday mornings.

I haven;t had them myself, but my boyfriend is a huge Bloody Mary snob, and he swears by the ones at Christy's.

I will definitely second City View Tavern - they are great. I also really like the bloodys at Keystone in Covington during their brunch on weekends. I am also very new to Bloody Marys - its like a switch just flipped for me this year and now I like them!

I know I am biased but Arnold's has a great one. Made from scratch with horseradish and plenty of spice. That is usually my drink of choice when I go out. I also love them at Knotty Pine, Chez Nora's and Milton's.
