I'm years removed from Cincinnati, but "back in the day" the Vernon Manor had a fine Sunday brunch.
tucker's in otr has great biscuits and gravy. all homemade.
i agree with anon...vernon manor has a great brunch, and also has a fabulous thanksgiving/christmas buffet if you don't have anywhere to go.
been reading for awhile, but i decided to stop in and encourage you to check out melt. my friends and i went to melt every sunday for their brunch and would often share several dishes. their monthly special belgian waffles are amazing; i highly recommend them. :)
The Anchor is pretty rough around the edges. Not a "brunch" type of place, imho. Not a very good breakfast place either, again imho - pre-baked biscuits fresh out of a box in the freezer, scent of ancient cigarette smoke hanging everywhere, etc.
Nice! I love brunch too, but I can't compete with you.
I've done the hitching post a few times and the bowl thing with the potatoes, eggs, and other stuff is decent (although I've also had their BLT sandwich for breakfast after a rough night and let me tell you - that HIT THE SPOT... bacon and bread is always a good choice).
Bluebird in Norwood is similar to Echo except minus the huge preppie crowd and they have an awesome breakfast that is eggs, meat, potatoes, and half an order of biscuits and gravy. Perfect.
Parkers is fantastic, btw. Totally worth a trip to the suburbs.
thanks for the tips, guys!
re: anchor grill, i know it is supposed to be gross, but i feel it is my duty to try it.
I do not remember the food being memorable (and service definitely was not) but Longworth's in Mt. Adams does do brunch. I wonder if the new Rookwood place has brunch too?
Re: Anchor Grill, it's completely worth visiting but maybe it'd be better to go at night. I've only been there after bar close, and definitely enjoyed those meals. I think I appreciate better food when I wake up the morning after.
