after climbing, as you might expect, we were starving. so we went to teller's in hyde park. when asked how she would describe it for my blog, patricia said "upscale blah" which is actually the perfect description. the food is just ok, with some standout items and some extreme duds.
if you go there, we recommend that you order as follows:
appetizers: the ahi tuna tartare and the scallops
salad: nicoise salad (only b/c the blackened tuna is so delicious... the rest is kind of boring)
pasta: cajun spiced farfalle
dessert: molten chocolate cake
ebony got the baton rouge wrapper and recommends that you avoid it at all costs. brian had also had the mushroom risotto on a previous visit and said it was horrible. gary was there but does not have any advice to offer since he spent most of the night text messaging his russian mail order bride.
brian reviews the alcohol menu as follows: "the beer is kind of expensive but it's a good selection. the wine list is good, but then we always like wine lists."
all agreed that the ambience is good... it's very laid back but not crappy. the downstairs is kind of more a bar and the upstairs is a nice outdoor patio. it is open late, so that is good (and rare for cincinnati).
BRUNCH ALERT: they have a very exciting looking brunch which is served on both saturday and sunday (!!!) and includes regular eggs benedict as well as crab cake benedict. there is also a very tempting option called "goetta hot brown." (goetta definition for non-cincinnatians). i am so going. patricia also put otto's on my brunch list, where she went w/ emily, and which i am assuming you can read about on emily's blog (see link to the left).
on an unrelated note, i am really sad about pavarotti's death. when i was in italy on study abroad, we went to the pavarotti and friends concert in modena. it was totally amazing and possibly the best concert i have ever been to. even the dalai lama was there. it is one of my favorite memories of italy.
