my date with destiny began... well who knows when it all started, but work has been absolutely running me into the ground for about the past month, other than my brief southern california respite. so today i was at this meeting that was just hell. tempers were high, people freaked out, nothing was resolved, time was wasted, emotions were drained, and the next thing you know it i had a mad taco craving.
since i was in newport, i knew there was only one answer. i made a mad dash to la mexicana and got a pile of tacos. i decided to take them back to the office to share with my equally miserable friends at work. i got a selection of al pastor, carnitas, and carne asada. in my opinion, the best was the al pastor, but then again that is just my favorite in general. all of them were delicious.
la mexicana does tacos right, with corn tortillas, lime, cilantro, and onions. they do not fuck around with their salsa and they were nice enough to give me both the red and green (avocado, not tomatillo, although they have that too) varieties. the green avocado sauce is awesome. it is like a soupy spicy fresh yummy taste of heaven. the meats were all awesome. the tacos hit the spot and prevented me from killing myself or someone else, which is really a lot to ask from a taco actually. the tacos are a little expensive at $2.75 each, but for a taco that SAVES LIVES i really do not think that is too much to pay, do you?
you must make a beeline there immediately and drown yourself in taco heaven. they also have burritos and chiles rellenos and everything, and hardly anyone there speaks english, so you can't go wrong. you will not be disappointed i promise. you can thank me in tacos.

I full heartedly agree with you. I just discovered La Mexicana last month and loved it. I am going back soon but if you have a craving for it before I go, hit me up. let's do lunch sometime soon!
